The ISO organization is formed and contributing to this cause since 1946
Organization who has a valid trade license, physical address and an active business can apply for ISO certificate(s). However, implementing the systems practices to apply a certain standard is mandatory.

Every certification body provides an option on their respective website to cheque validity of your certificate. The registration number on the certificate can be validated on their website.
It depends upon organization’s preparedness. Usually it takes from 3 months to 1 years based on organization’s planning, delegation, teamwork and drive to implement the management systems designed. It has noticed, a poor coordination delays or fail on time ISO certification plan.

Certificates are issued with 3 years validity and organizations must undergo yearly surveillance audit to ensure continuity of certificate(s).
Organizations can choose a certification body that is accredited by a member of International Accreditation Forum (preferably). There are a number of certification bodies and eventually its organization’s choice to select their ISO certification partner.
Once the certification body’s audit is over, they would be preparing audit reports and in case of any findings (non conformities), organization will be advised to close it within the time Certification body given. The accreditation body will determine audit Packs, Scope of certificate, validation of address of the company before they issue certificate. It takes 6 to 8 weeks to issue the certificate. The Time mainly depends upon the completeness of documentation and its on time submission.
There are few standards like ISO 17025 and ISO 17020 where accreditation body directly assess organization’s readiness. Certification is an assurance by a third party who does conformity assessment. Accreditation is an approval by the authoritative body of the competence to work on specific standards.
Audit is an independent assessment on the management systems practices implemented in an organization based on the elements described in the chosen standards. Compliance verification to the Standard requirements will be the core objective of every audit.
Non conformity is defined as a failure to meet one or more standard requirements or the failure in complying with management systems implemented or the regulatory requirements which is part of every ISO standard requirements. Failure to comply will be reported to organization to close it effectively by reinstating standard / systems practices. Repeated failure may lead to suspend or cancel the ISO Certificates.
